Both ceiling mounts went up quickly, as did the *first* hidden pin adjustable center tube. The problem was getting the cotter pin onto the second adjustable center tube. After playing around with this for a minute, I found that the through holes on the ceiling mount weren't directly facing each other. My tools are kept in the garage so it didn't take long (for me) to drill the offset pin hole. I still don't understand how these holes (1) could be made. false, and (2) passed the test. You make a jig, load the mandrel and you're done. As a mechanical engineer, I really liked the simple design, but was disappointed that I couldn't implement it. Either evaluate the manufacturing process or conduct a batch inspection (visual or inspection) to ensure you are shipping a quality product that conforms to drawings. I have to say that overall I am very happy with the finished product. After drilling the offset everything worked great. I used 36" for the spacing between the mounts and it was perfect for dad and kid skis and poles.
