This item includes ONE replacement exhaust valve. Since every Base Camp mask has two exhaust valves, you will need to order 2 if you want to replace both (or have a whole pair of two spare valves). Now you can order up to 6 items from the supplier. Order accordingly! Rating updated from 3 stars to 4 stars based on seller's incentive to replace item for free. If the seller wants to get 5 stars they need to clarify the item description and photo which probably inadvertently refers to a two valve "kit" for sale. Recent customer reviews after mine continue to indicate confusion on this point. I suggest that the seller use the paragraph above to clarify their offer by removing any use of the word "set". The new image must show the separate inner and outer sections of the valve, otherwise it will look like a nested "set" of 2 valves (which it certainly isn't). This item contains ONE valve assembly consisting of inner and outer valve sections (shown nested in photo). These two sections are twisted together after passing through the respective fabric filter and mask outlets. This assembly holds and protects the silicone diaphragm (4 included) and forms a single one-way valve (exhaust valve). Although the valve is easy to replace, no instructions are included. The vendor's illustrations show that a single silicone diaphragm must first be installed on the inner portion of the valve, positioned correctly over its mullion and oriented so that its concentric lugs form a small, outward-facing cone. The filter change procedure is also the basis for valve change as the interior of the valve must first be inserted through the filter and mask outlets. After installation, the outer section of the valve must be installed and rotated a full 90 degrees clockwise to lock in the inner section. In order to direct the flow in a specific direction, the slits of the inner piece must be correctly aligned with the mask before attaching the outer piece. For example, if you want the valve outlet to flow down, the slots on the inner section of the valve must be aligned vertically, and then the tabs on the outer valve must be installed with the outlet flow guides facing forward. After fully rotating 90 degrees clockwise to block, the mask exit is now pointing down. Stay healthy and remember that vented masks do not offer source protection. They merely protect the wearer from other sources. That means if the owner is a possible source, this mask probably shouldn't be the first choice. Wearing the exhaust valve mask may seem awkward to those who know the difference. My personal practice is to wear this mask with a fabric neck piece that I can pull to close the valves in public. Very good form/fit/function. TL; DR: Buy 2 of these if you need a full set of valves for your mask.
