I washed them and they became a little "fluffier". They're not as insulating as my other winter flannel pajamas, so they're not as warm. But for typical winter household temperatures, they are quite warm. If a person sleeps in a cold room, I'm not sure if they will be warm enough. High quality material, little shrinkage. Washed several times, they wear well.
