Review on 🎧 Immerse in Exceptional Sound Quality with Moondrop Starfield Carbon Nanotube Diaphragm Dynamic Earphones by Cynthia Romero

Cauterizing takes time.

The packaging is attractive. The cable is beautiful and color coordinated. The cable is a bit mic-like, especially between songs. I found it difficult to fully insert the 2-pin connector on the IEM. I used far more force than I normally expected. But once it's enabled, I don't think it will ever be disabled in normal use. The cable isn't as good as aftermarket cables, but it's better than the disposable cables you may come across. The set contains six pairs of black silicone ear tips. Two pairs small, medium and large. I have a really large entrance to my ear canal, so I wasn't able to get a good seal with the large ear tip. But I think most people will like the kits that come with it. The included earbuds fit very snugly on the earpiece. I found the Starfield headphones fit my outer ear very well. The eartip sits deep in my ear canal and I can achieve a snug fit with my favorite Spinfit eartips. The Starfield has a very low profile and stays in my ear, requiring a lot of tuning. The initial sound was pretty ragged. There was no bass, the mids and highs were harsh and painful. I left them on on my player to burn. When I returned a few hours later, the sound was much more pleasant and the bass was more pronounced. Swapping out for larger spinfits has improved sealing, which also helps bass and mids. I'm currently on my second day of listening to YT, music and movies. I think the sound is still evolving. The mids and highs continue to be smoother and more comfortable to hear. The balance between bass, mids and treble is improved and I can focus on the music without being distracted by the odd sound profile. It's been two days and I think Starfield is still going. I think there is a lot of detail in the sound, but maybe not the most detailed compared to my higher end headphones. The sound production is typical for iems, after all the sound is delivered directly to the ear. All in all this is a good set. The sound profile is tuned for a balanced representation between bass, middle and treble. I turn the volume up to "unsafe" levels and don't think Starfield suffers. At high volumes, the bass really packs a punch, but I wouldn't listen to more than half a song. LOLUpdate: Five days of listening. The top end is really smooth. Male and female vocals are presented very well. I switched to Spinfit CP-100 XL by upgrading to CP-100 L. Now I have such a good seal that the silicone tips fold over when pulled out. With the improved sealing I get much more bass quantity and quality. Some tracks have a real low frequency growl feel. If you are a serious bass player I don't think these will suit you anyway. For the rest of us, that's really, really good. There's nuance and detail in the bass, and it's not a single attack. The bass doesn't transition into spongy and swollen mids. The mids are nice and clean and maybe a bit warm. Female vocals are pleasant, even, without squeaks and hisses. The upper frequencies are clear and well presented. No hissing, even if you turn up the volume. I was listening to a YT demo of a set of cymbals ranging in size from 7" to 21". I heard the difference between them very well. I think this is a good high end test. Please note that my ears are 66 years old and I don't usually find hissing in headphones. However, the headphones annoy or tire me. I also replaced the cable that came with it with a spare cable I had on hand. The aftermarket cable is much less puny, less prone to tangles and lies comfortably without twisting. I don't think the cable affected the sound. I still have to test AB a bit. Overall I am very happy that I bought them. I would recommend them if you are looking for a balanced and dynamic sound.
