I bought this to keep track of the temperature of my outdoor freezer which is in a covered driveway. It shows high and low temperatures since the last reset to make sure you didn't have an unknown thaw/refreeze episode. It beeps when the temperature is outside of the range you specified, which recently saved me from losing the contents of my freezer when the outlet was somehow unplugged. I was lucky I was just leaving the house at that point or I wouldn't have heard it, but without it I would never have known there was a problem and I would have unknowingly lost hundreds of dollars or worse of groceries that had been spoiled by spoilage , re-frozen food poisoned.
