I bought 2 sets of these motors for the mini octocopter. Even before I checked the engines, it was clear that something was wrong with them. They didn't spin like normal motors and felt like sand, like there was some dirt between the magnets and coils. I shook them and nothing rattled, so I'm thinking it must be bad, uneven winding of the copper wire. I was sometimes able to get the affected motors to spin smoothly for 2 or 3 revs before the problems reappeared, but I was unable to clear any obstructions. When I connected the motors to power the 2 sand filled motors immediately started smoking so I assumed they were dead. I tried again and they hissed before passing out. Now every time I plug them in they do the same thing. The remaining 6 motors function normally.
