Review on ☕ Keurig K-Elite Coffee Maker: Single Serve K-Cup Pod Brewer with Iced Coffee Capability - Brushed Silver by Lisa Holland

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Much better than our 6 year old K75

Our 6 year old K75 recently passed away. Typical of the air pump being out of order. So I looked at the new ones and settled on the Elite. I read several reviews that said it brews weak coffee even with the strong brew setting turned on. There were a lot more positive reviews, so I pulled the trigger and got to work. I can't help but think that the people who left reviews about the coffee being weak were trying to brew the travel mug size with a single coffee pod. I'll explain why I think this way later in the review. First, let's talk about the physical aspects of this machine. The quality seems to be much better than our old one. It just feels more solid, the ball of the foot is actually metal on the Elite, it was plastic on the K75. It runs smoothly and just feels solid. The water tank is larger and has a much better sliding mount system. Very easy to put on and take off. The drip tray isn't as high so you can put larger cups underneath without having to remove the drip tray and if you do need to remove it it's quick and easy. There is no water tank on the left so as not to bother anymore. So I think the design is much better than the K75, at least from the outside. Now on to how well the Elite brews coffee. An absolutely phenomenal cup of coffee. The best we've ever had from Keurig! So let me anticipate a little. We personally don't use coffee pods as we don't like contributing to the plastic going to landfill unless it's necessary. We obtain coffee from whole beans and freshly grind it with a high-quality coffee grinder and use "My K-Pod". It actually has two bottling lines for the coffee grounds. One for regular size mugs and one for travel mugs. My wife and I love strong coffee and use dark roasts, so we filled My K-Pod with coffee that was just under the size of a travel mug. Set the Keurig Elite for a strong drink and then choose the largest cup size, which says it's 10 ounces. It turned out really good, strong, aromatic coffee. Much better than our old K75. We did the same with our K75, albeit going down a cup size, and couldn't quite match the durability that we get with the Keurig Elite. I wasn't happy about buying a new coffee maker, but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. We are very very happy with the purchase. You won't be disappointed, especially if you like to grind your own coffee. This leads me to believe that maybe some of the people who left the one star reviews were using regular coffee pods, maybe light or medium roasted. and a choice of large cup sizes. Of course, I don't know for sure, but one-star reviewers rarely include details in their ratings. This is one star and one offer. If you want good coffee, grind it in a quality coffee grinder and use My K-Pod. This puts you in control of freshness and grind quality, and allows you to pour more ground coffee than a standard K-cup. Follow directions, do not grind, overfill, or compact coffee grounds. You should be able to shake My K-Pod and hear them move inside (make sure you have a lid on). If you can't get good coffee out of it, then you're doing something wrong.
