Review on Tripp Lite Cat6 Gigabit Snagless Molded Patch Cable (RJ45 M/M) - Gray by Lawrence Crespo

Great quality and great price

I have tried many network cables over the years and Tripp Lite Cat6 is my favorite. For me it comes down to the following characteristics: 1. Connector - Tripp Lite has an overmolded connector which means that the individual conductors are terminated in the connector and then the plastic of the cable is overmolded around each individual wire. This makes the connector very strong and almost impossible to pull out a wire or break a single pin. Metal body connectors are good, but they're a lot more expensive and not really any stronger than a good molded connector. Plug-in connectors (unmolded, sometimes referred to as modular) are cheap and subject to failure.2. "Hookless" Design - Tripp Lite uses two small, molded grommets on the edges of the connectors to avoid snagging when pulling these cables through openings, around devices, etc. It's much better than a regular flip cover that covers a latch. . Cables without flaps are a pain in comparison to this design. Molded tabs are better and make it easier to remove the cable from the RJ45.3 connector. voltage compensator. These cables have a long, flexible strain relief at the connector that is molded into the cable instead of just sliding over it. This makes it very durable and bends more easily than other designs.4. True Cat6 - Cat5 and Cat5e can be good for many applications, but these days Cat6 cables aren't that much more expensive than Cat5 and they support higher bandwidth (like Gigabit LAN and HDMI-over-LAN) so you have a bit more future. -Investigation. Cat6 cables tend to use larger conductors and better ferrules than Cat5 cables (not always the case - there are great Cat5 cables out there, but for the money, why not use Cat6?).5. Price. I just don't see any reason to spend more money on good network cables than these Tripp Lites. There are cables that might look better or be packaged nicer, but who cares? A cable needs to work and be reliable, and these Tripp Lite Cat6 cables do just that. In addition, they have the advantages of good quality and design mentioned above. These cables are a great purchase and a fantastic price.
