Revainrating 5 out of 5

Cheap and it works!

PROs1. I bought horse pine pellets from a tractor supply store (their own farm store brand) for $6 for a huge bag. I drove 40 minutes to get to this shop and bought 2 bags that my cats will use forever. Pellets are much cheaper than shovel filler.2. Pellets turn into sawdust when wet. If there is too much wet litter on the bottom of the brown lower bowl, it may smell bad and not easy to dry out. So I raised the tray with the white hole above it with 5 Chef Boyardee (microwaveable) containers (taped to the bottom of the white pan) to allow the brown pan to hold more sawdust between emptying and allow more air to circulate between the brown pan bottom and the white hole. Drip tray for drying wet pellets/sawdust. No more smell.3. I bought TWO of these toilets. I nested TWO brown trays together, then placed a white tray with holes on top of the brown trays and put the rest of the second tray in the garage. That way I can shake the white perforated bowl into the brown bowl, remove the brown trash bowl and put the white perforated bowl on top of the 2nd clean brown bowl. Then I take the 1st brown baking sheet with sawdust to the compost heap and throw it away. If necessary, I hose it down in the garden, let it dry and then put it under the brown pot. Rotating the brown pans makes everything easier.4. The white pan with holes is dishwasher safe when used in the top rack of the dishwasher. Someone put a large sticker on the bottom of a white plate with holes and covered the holes. It took me forever to peel off the entire sticker from each little hole. I got frustrated and put the pan with the white hole on the top shelf of the dishwasher for 1 hour to clean and the alt sticker came off.5. Sawdust is MUCH LIGHTER than wet, semi-lumpy litter. When I carry the sawdust-filled brown bottom tray outside to the compost bin, it's very, very light. CONS 1) The white pan "HOLE" is too low on the bottom of the brown pan. I read that someone taped the ends of the tubes to the bottom of the pan with white holes, but to save money I put 5 empty Chef Boyardee microwave containers (face down) on the bottom of the pan with white holes glued. 4 in each corner and one in the middle as I have a fat cat. These empty Chef Boyardee containers are large enough for debris to fall through the holes and fill the brown tray below. I can also take a tray with white holes and shake it and the sawdust will sift through the holes into the area below. 2) It was a bit difficult to get my old cat to use it. I had to put TWO trays side by side. Once with filler and once with granules. Then I put a few bits of her poo in the granular litter along with a small amount of litter soaked in her urine. Then I stop cleaning the Scooble litter box - SAD. She used it persistently until the whole top was hard/crusted. Then she went about her business in one of the bedrooms, so I closed ALL THE DOORS. She FINALLY used the pellet tray and has been using it ever since. My cat digs and gets pellets on the ground, but they're easier to sweep up than trash and not as easy to track. Indoor litter box to pick up pellets as my cat goes into town. To be fair, I would if I continued to use scoop litter even because my cat is dirty. I've tried crystal trays, a tray where urine flows through the litter and pools on the floor and you empty it (the ABSOLUTELY WORST disgusting tray) and a few other weird models that use alternatives to litter. I tried a dozen SamsClub fillers on everything on Revain, but nothing really held together. I have tried several alternatives to scoop litter such as grain litter, newspaper etc. Tidy Cat changed their formula a while ago and now the urine no longer sticks together but smeltly dissolves in the litter box otherwise I would never have looked for another Academic subject. I have to thank Tidy Cat for finding this toilet strainer box and using horse pine pellets.
