This rating will evolve as I get to know the camera better. They provide a quick guide of about 30 pages that doesn't cover the camera features and it's difficult to find a 200+ page guide online that covers everything and even a longer guide doesn't explain everything. The electronic viewfinder is great, I think it's better than the optical viewfinder on a DSLR in a way because it lets you know if there are any issues, such as blurring. B. the color balance, with the image you want to capture. And the image in the electronic viewfinder is clear and bright enough to meet optical viewfinder requirements. You need an eyepiece on your viewfinder to protect it from outside light. Unfortunately, this eyepiece falls off easily and you could lose a few. UPDATE: The EVF is difficult to use when it's very bright outside, such as when shooting in snow, and it also doesn't show the effects of the polarizing filter setting. Sony PlayMemories applications and software must be downloaded via Wi-Fi. to your phone or computer and this process is not reliable. However, connecting the USB cable between the camera and the computer makes downloading easier, so you don't have to take out the SD card. This is good because the SD card is difficult to remove; It's right next to the door that hides it, and the door is so close to the map that you can't grab the map very well. UPDATE: The SONY PlayMemories app is required to transfer pictures to your phone or tablet and can be extremely cumbersome to use. Some irritations: repeated prompts for a complex password from a phone or tablet. More recently, the app wouldn't launch because I had to confirm an updated privacy policy, which I couldn't do because I was connected to a camera and not the internet. If you don't like the proprietary apps that you have to use with the hardware, this won't make you feel any better. Zooming with the zoom ring on a short lens isn't smooth, it lags a bit, you might as well just use the electric zoom lever on the side of the lens. The red-eye flash reduction feature is accessed through the menu and cannot be adjusted through the flash settings. Otherwise, direct access to change various recording settings works well. Image quality is excellent! That's the main thing, isn't it? Stay Tuned --------------------------UPDATE June 2019 I just took this camera on a trip to Switzerland and really got to know it. Here are my comments: Good β’ The camera is a really comfortable size and I wore it all the time. If necessary, you can put it in your jacket pocket. My son, on the other hand, often left his DSLR at the hotel because it was too big to carry around. β’ The picture quality is amazing, the camera focuses and releases quickly. β’ Auto bracketing is a great feature, but is often not needed as the camera's auto exposure is usually accurate. Because it creates a lot of extra frames, I now only use it in scenes where exposure is a problem. Poor β’ Memory card difficult to remove due to poor position to door β’ Complicated menus, poorly organized, would like more direct access to functions β’ Audio playback is not very loud; would welcome a stereo headphone jack β’ The video record button is easy to accidentally press, hard to find by touch, and stops recording without shaking the camera. β’ The manual zoom of the shorter lens is not really manual, but an electric delay zoom. β’ The lens must be turned on and extended to view images. Of course you can attach an external flash, but I don't want to add that bulk to the camera.
