Works well if you set it firmly. Love the design of the handle

I don't know why it is listed as a dog gate, it is the same design as the other gate we bought which was listed as a child gate. These gates are also taller to hold more active or larger pets. These new types of gates are a lot better than those of two decades ago, but you MUST understand how they work. Basically you have to unscrew the white part enough that the gate is wedged very tightly in your door or wall. It's fine for doors, sometimes for walls the pressure required can't be handled by drywall, there is some sort of wall protection you can buy to help with that, but I think gates should come with them. This one contains such cups, but no wider ones that spread the pressure. This works well if you set it firmly. I like the design of the handle, it's comfortable to use with one hand. You can adjust it to any height you want, we use it with a gap at the bottom that a cat can pass through but not a dog. You can use 1, 2 or 3 elements depending on how wide you want. In the widest position, it's more difficult to get it firmly in place, but with a bit of patience, it can be done. Note that depending on the distance, the cat may walk through the space between the last jamb and the door, so you may have to do this. some adjustments when trying to keep the cat indoors. A note: pressure plugs tend to fall out during storage. We've added a storage pocket to the gate that we put plugs in when not in use.
