Polar Grit Review - 5 star product

I've been using Polar since the 90's. I'm also a techie who loves watches. So of course I was excited about this new Grit X and bought it right away. Now I mostly mountain bike and swim when I train outside, so I like a watch that's strong and durable (unfortunately I fall every now and then). The first impression of this watch is aesthetically very impressive. New large metal keys and a large touchscreen are welcome. I wear full finger gloves so it's nice to be able to easily find the buttons on the go. The watch is also comfortable and noticeably lighter than other branded GPS watches I own. Here are my favorite features of this watch: the optical heart rate sensor. It's very accurate. In winter/spring I ride my smart bike 2-3 days a week via the Zwift app. I have a Polar H9 heart rate monitor connected to the Zwift app. I can combine this with the Grit X but haven't found any difference between the HR strap and the optical. On both rides of varying intensity, I never saw a delta of more than 1-2 beats. Very cool as I like to see my heart rate but don't want to always wear a belt when mountain biking. Hill Shards. This is a welcome feature for anyone who enjoys repeating hills. No input required. It recognizes your ascent and automatically calculates your reps, as well as the distance and time of the ascent and descent. This worked perfectly two days ago during a repeated uphill training session on my road bike. This is a fun and handy feature. On-screen display and touch functions. I like the new display. Very clear and bright enough. Of course, it's easy to light up with the top left button. I have it on the weather screen all the time. Nice to see the wind and temperature. route guide. I hadn't used a watch for this before, but now I'm very comfortable with the Grit X. I live in Bend, Oregon, which has a lot of hiking trails to explore. When you need an efficient way to find your prescribed route, this watch makes it easy. You easily stay on your path/road and know when to turn. Battery life. I did 3 workouts sooo long in 2 days, optical heart rate, gps etc were on all the time and I still had loads of energy left to charge it up. I love all the other features like swim stats, sleep stages, and nightly charging. I've just started using the FitSpark and will edit this review after using it for a couple of weeks but looks like another great piece of exercise equipment. All in all, this is another great watch from Polar. This watch can do everything and more than my other branded GPS bike computers. It's a personal trainer/trainer on your wrist, complete with the Polar Flow app and G-Shock durability. I can only recommend this sports watch. 5 Stars.
