Review on Nikon 35mm f/1.8G Auto Focus Lens for Nikon DSLR Cameras - Black (Model 2183) by Bong Cha ᠌

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Poor product, below average quality.

Bought this product twice in 2022. The first time I bought it for 6500 in a store, I gave it back because of the purple fringing (I was a beginner with the D5200 camera then) I thought it was abnormal compared to 18-55. It turned out to be normal and typical for all plastic 1.8G. A little later, having bought the D7100, I decided to buy it again from my hands. Found for 3000r as new. I drove, took off on him and this way and that. In parallel, I then had a Sigma 17-70 pants, and so this chic Sigma built a much better and more expensive image at the same 35mm. Sold this 35 \ 1.8 immediately. I specially write for those who scribble enthusiastic reviews with foam at the mouth on 35 \ 1.8G Before calling this wretched "plug" "indispensable for crop", amazingly divine, beautifully masterpiece, razor-sharp "buy some NORMAL glass like Samyang 35 1.4 (for cheap, professional quality and working 1.4 even for astrophoto), Helios 81N (Cheap and cheerful but beautiful), all kinds of Zeiss under M42, Nikon 17-55 \ 2.8 (for crop oligarchs) or the same Sigma 17-70 or 17-50 and then you simply won’t know what your crop cameras are for capable with good optics! As for 35 \ 1.8G, then of course it is worth the 3000r that I paid for it in 2022. But for 8-12 thousand, what it costs now, it is extremely stupid not to look towards optics of a different level and quality in the secondary market

Pros
  • 1) Stupidly one snotty "whale" sharpness to pain in the eyes. 2) Small, light 3) Well assembled, metal bayonet
Cons
  • 1) Stupidly one snotty "whale" sharpness to pain in the eyes. 2) Terrible purple fringing at 1.8 - 18-55 has nothing even close similar 3) The drawing is flat-standard, the same flat dull "technical" bokeh. And on 5.6 and then the bokeh becomes just like rough scales flickering. Even the ancient 50\1.8D picture is more expensive and better 4) The price is frostbitten for a new one, and for a used one, too, after 15 years 5) AF is kind of dumb and smearing in difficult conditions
