Feels good but doesn't exfoliate well

These brushes feel good but don't exfoliate my skin very well. I get the best "scrub" from one of those Gosha towels or African mesh towels. They're silicone so they don't get mold or retain odors, which is nice, and they're easy to clean, but I was hoping they were "more detergent".
