This is a pretty good lightweight video tripod for only $60. Considering the price, the build quality is very good. I've been using it extensively for a few days and everything is holding up well. The quick-release plate that the camera attaches to is plastic, but it's still heavy plastic. The tripod works quite smoothly, with little play. With a little practice you will be able to make smooth curves/slopes. Actually, the "smooth" action works well. I gave it one star because this tripod works with my Panasonic Lumix ZS100 camera - when I mount this camera onto this tripod's quick release plate, it depresses the camera's focus ring. against the cork surface of the quick release plate. My solution was to put a thin piece of rubber on two-thirds of the cork surface of the quick release plate so the focus ring was slightly higher and not touching the cork. It's honestly as big a detriment to the camera as it is to a tripod, but every time I have to modify a product to make it work the way I want it, it's worth dropping its rating by a star. Overall I like this tripod. It's slim and light, easy to carry, and after some practice, it will pan/tilt smoothly. I recommend it.
