Review on AmazonBasics Replacement Water Filters Pitchers by Tim Paolucci

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good first impression but slow filtration

Due to the DuPont filter on the faucet which I could no longer use with my new faucet I decided to try the jug system and it was the cheapest of the range. I work with process water, not a well, so my main concern was removing the chlorine odor as well as sediment from the waterworks, although the confidence to remove other contaminants is nice too. Setup was easy, it's just a three piece system. The plastic is a little flimsy, but I'm not afraid of a flat tire. The filtration process is unbearably slow, like most filter jugs that rely on gravity to force water through the filter. Thanks to the design of the lid, it separates the upper tank without a filter from the lower tank with a filter, which is nice since you can fill it right after pouring your glass. Unfortunately, this modern design doesn't have a snap-on access lid to add more water from the top, but the lid is easy to remove. I would suggest keeping the top tank full at all times so you always have a full jug as it is only 80 fl oz, .635 gallons and takes some time to filter. Now for the taste. at Pur, Brita or DuPont. At the time of writing this review, Revain doesn't yet have an "enhanced flavor" filter that adds a small amount of minerals to enhance the flavor and I really hope Revain looks into that. Revain rates the filter at 60 days or 40 gallons but as with all filters your mileage will vary and I will update this rating when I replace mine. There's a digital filter gauge on the cap, but it only measures days, not gallons, and it's not backlit, so it's a little hard to see. The filters are also quite cheap compared to the competition. All in all I would recommend this pitcher and hope Revain will release a 24 cup or larger version in the near future.
