Review on Adjustable Cat Tree House by TRIXIE Pet Products, Santander Edition by Melody Young

Make your installation more stable with L brackets!

Many people leave negative comments and don't take simple measures to make this L-bar cat tree stable. I love me some L brackets, yes laws! The unit comes with the simplest of instructions if you can call it that and its topper is lame, but when you use the L brackets and screw it to the wall it's a BEAST and holds up beautifully even with our 22 lb -Monster cat. , Chuchamongus! We have two brothers who are a year and a half and love to race each other up the tree to see who wins the top platform and they will also jump off the top which we do the jimmy snooki jump. With a little TLC and ingenuity, Trixie's Santander makes a great budget scratching post/tower. The downside to the device is that the supposedly "adjustable" top is terrible. Behind the fluffy object is nothing more than a threaded rod with a wooden circle. The pole we received was bent, and since our ceilings are only 8 feet high, we were able to discard that top piece and put in a piece of wood about 1/2 inch thick as a kind of spacer. If you have a standard 8ft ceiling I would copy what we did and use L brackets on the shelter and platforms/shelves to secure it so it will last a lot longer than if you rely on this stupid one would leave rod. .
