I have mixed feelings about this kitty litter. I like that it is lightweight and easy to pour without dust. It doesn't stick together, so urine gets into the crystals and stays there, discoloring the bedding. It also absorbs odors. Since it doesn't stick together, no filler is lost when collecting, so you don't have to refill it as often. I'm not keen on the idea of my long haired cat stepping on urine soaked crystals, but he seems to enjoy it and doesn't track down debris that much. Every week I throw fresh bedding over it to freshen it up a bit. I put the litter box in front of the litter box and it picks up most of the litter, then I just shake the mat over the litter box. The entire tray should be discarded and replaced with fresh litter at least once a month, possibly sooner if you don't like discoloration. Didn't think of using a liner, just ordered a box of Johnny Cat Jumbo liners. They have a drawstring closure which makes it easy to remove debris and avoid having to clean the litter box too often. One jar lasted two months, about as long as an 18-pound Precious Cat clumping litter.
