The top looks pretty cheap but I think it will be pretty easy to replace later with a nicer piece of wood or other material but this piece is good now. This is a birthday gift for my boyfriend who doesn't really like using coasters so we'll see how he goes about it. But it's a bit bigger and a lot sturdier than the small TV tray he's currently using. It was pretty easy for me to assemble it, I have furniture assembly experience, but I think it would be easy enough for a person without such experience to understand. Lightweight, easy to move, it can be hidden under a bed or sofa and used as a desk or side table. I'm very happy with that for the price. I will most likely replace the upper over time, but so far so good.
