Review on Reliance Controls THP205 Sump Pump Alarm: Flood Alert, 9V Battery, 6 Ft Wire Sensor, 105 Db, White by Brandon Rogers

Inexpensive but works well

It's hard to review a product you hope you never need. However, due to the significant amount of water in an unplanned location in my basement, I purchased two of these alarms in addition to an existing sensor wired into the home's intruder alarm system. Installation was straightforward - just minutes for both. I tested each by placing the humidity sensors in a very shallow pan of water and both made a high-pitched noise that could be heard above. (There's also a more subtle, limited-range "musical" option.) When my new gutters and other minor changes are made to my landscaping, I hope I never hear alarms again. But I made a note on my PDA to check the batteries every six months and check them when I do. At $13 each, they seem like cheap insurance and are very good for the lower parts of the basement where flooding can occur but is unlikely. For the most dangerous areas I would recommend an alarm, if one is available, tied to a monitored alarm system as flooding or burst pipes can occur while you are away. In general, this is a good product:. Reliance Controls THP205 Submersible Pump Alarm and Flood Alarm.
