The dots are quite tacky, but when the two halves are perfectly aligned, the velcro loop is stronger than glue. The Velcro pulls one side of the point away from what it's attached to. The workaround is to misalign the two halves so that the hook and loop overlap is lenticular instead of circular. This increases the stickiness to hook loop ratio and solves the problem. My application is to fix laminated photos on a plastic surface and change photos frequently. If I misalign the two halves, the dots work fine.
