This replacement rod is advertised as "durable brass construction". It's actually cheap steel that rusts easily. (Just test it with a magnet.) The only reason I ordered this product, and I've ordered 4 of them, was to replace my badly corroded steel ball bars. These have gone from brand new to next to nothing rusted within 7 years. Rusty poles will also attract hair etc. Of course I sent the item back. In comparison, the old brass ball bars we had in our previous home looked almost new after 19+ years of use. No wear and rust. In addition, the diameter of the nylon ball is missing in the product description. Balls for hinge rods come in 3 sizes. These nylon balls are 5/8" in diameter and will only fit sink drains with a matching 5/8" diameter nylon or plastic concave spout.
