Works well but can be a bit tricky to connect an android phone directly

When I first got this I was able to get it working with hotspots but couldn't connect my android phone directly to the connect camera. (iPhone may be different - I don't know). It works great once you get it working. see below what I had to do. If you try to connect your phone directly to the camera (no hotspot) you may encounter the same problem as me. To explain. You start by setting up the camera so that you can access it from your smartphone and then go to the Wi-Fi settings on your phone and connect to the camera's WiFi. However, the phone checks whether it can connect to the internet via the camera's wifi, which it can't. This means that the Camera Connect app cannot use this Wi-Fi connection to connect to the camera. You can fix this problem and the solution depends on your phone. Some phones have a SmartSwitch option (under WiFi settings) that forces them to ONLY use connections that can access the internet and you must disable this feature. If you're using pure Android (like Nexus) you'll get an alert on your phone when you connect to the camera's WiFi stating it can't access the internet. By clicking the alert, you can instruct the phone to use this connection even if it doesn't have internet access. I'm giving 4 stars because it was so difficult to work with and the lack of documentation from Canon. You can fix this problem and the solution depends on your phone.
