Review on Strictly Diesel Dipstick 1994 2003 Powerstroke by Steven Ferguson

I noticed I had a terrible dipstick leak and went the cheaper route and the weatherseal patch method. After spending $45 on this kit (I ended up leaking not where I started), I went ahead and bought this overpriced part. Yes it is overpriced. However, there is NOTHING else on the market that does what this product does. It wasn't that difficult to install, but here are a few tips to help. First, order a 45-hole brush and safety wire. I wrapped the wire tightly around the hole brush and pushed it into the probe tube. This is a very tight fit and will keep the old adapter from falling into the oil pan before you're done. Second, drain the oil before installation. It's tempting not to, but you want to be sure it falls into place once you get to that point. Use them to hold the old probe adapter until you're ready to drop it. Fourth, there are two screws that tighten the new adapter. One of the bolts has a small weld on the end that prevents it from being fully extracted and causes a lot of problems during assembly. I found it easiest to drive the welded screw all the way in and then use a ratchet to get the inside to spin in circles. With a flashlight I was able to find the second hole and finally screw in the second screw. Fifth, buy a cheap torque wrench. Don't complete the installation without it and just go by feel. It is not worth. You can find it on Amazon for $15-$30. Great product, just overpriced. Then everything worked perfectly again, so in the end I'm satisfied.
