My son has a cheap HP Stream laptop that doesn't have an ethernet port. It's wireless only. I use this USB Ethernet adapter instead of a wireless connection. This Ethernet adapter lets me get the most out of my Comcast Gigabit Internet. The device will install the drivers automatically if you allow it. All you have to do is click the USB icon in the taskbar and open the drive. From there you can install the drivers if the installation doesn't start automatically when you plug the USB adapter into your computer. I have used other USB Ethernet adapters before. Most of them will never reach you at full speed. Typically speeds are terrible and installing/finding updated drivers can be a hassle. Not so with this adapter. It also uses Realtek Ethernet drivers, so you can expect frequent driver updates.
