Taste? Okay, I don't think anyone cares about cardboard, but it's worth giving up plastic. I use them instead of plastic at work and in restaurants that have yet to make the switch. They can last really long if you do what I did and basically use my coffee container to rinse and reuse throughout the day. I use them at work when I forget my regular drinking cup without a straw at work. The cute design encourages and reminds me not to use boring plastic straws.
