This car mount for the iPhone 12 (and expected later models) works by clipping onto the air vent and using the phone's built-in magnet. The phone must be either caseless or in a special MagSafe case that increases the strength of the magnetic field. The magnet isn't strong enough to work reliably in a regular case, although you can usually charge wirelessly. When used with the right configuration, the magnet is strong and holds the phone securely. Because it attaches with a clip and doesn't snag on the entire fin like the other brand I use, it's easy and quick to detach, making it handy if you don't want to keep it in place. It doesn't have a wireless charging cable, but just plug in your phone and charge using a standard Lightning cable. I like that the stand has a stabilizer that can be pulled out during use. The articulation allows me to position my phone for a better view. The connection is rigid enough that the phone won't wobble or move even if you hit a bump. Attaching the clip can be awkward, at least until you get used to how you position your hand. Of course, if you leave it in place then you're done. I like that this car mount is compact. I use mine for travel to use in a rental car as it mounts to any air fender and is quick to install or remove. – Debbie Lee Wesselman.
