As with all things Porsche, there's only one right way to get everything done without complications (like losing an eye, cutting your scalp, or scratching the paint). To install these struts easily and without hassle and to avoid pushing out the paint on your Porsche, first take masking tape and apply it to the underside of the hood and inner fenders around the original strut ball and pan mounting points , if you fool around in it next step. Now grab a broomstick, a piece of PVC pipe, or whatever you can find to use as a temporary "stand". Glue or tie a rag to one end. Place one end on the frunk bottom of your Porsche and place the soft end under the hood (center on the support pad). This is just in case the hood tries to fall off while you're removing the old struts (bad). The trim strip is designed to prevent denting of your car's very thin aluminum hood. Then put on goggles. Then take a close look at the original strut where it attaches to a small ball mount at the top of the fender or hood. Now, using a small flathead screwdriver (preferably not razor sharp), SLOWLY AND CAREFULLY INSERT THE SCREWDRIVER INTO THE CLAMP OF THE OLD RACK AND PULL OUT ABOUT 1/8 inch. You will see how it moves. Now you can either pry the old strut out of the ball seat with a block of wood or remove it with a plastic inner fairing wedge. Once each cut end of the old rack was fully opened up I found it very easy. Simply place a small piece of wood on the appropriate side of this strut and "push" the piece of wood with your hand. Clean each ball joint with a paper towel. Fresh lube is already installed for you in the new racks (nice touch). Simply press the new stand (make sure you put it on the right side) onto the clean sphere. Do one rack at a time. Remove the protective bar, remove all tools under the hood. Take off the band and the viola! Now, with an old beer in hand, marvel at how the bonnet of your Porsche no longer tries to bite your head off.
