Very elegant. I believe this is for the export market only, unlike other Lavazza coffees available and common in Italy (Rossa, Oro, Crema e Gusto). This is a medium roast coffee like most Italian espresso blends. I use it in my coffee maker and Nespresso Inissia machine with Mister Barista reusable steel capsules. With Nespresso I get foam and a great cup. Lavazza Qualità Rossa contains 30% Robusta and therefore has a stronger, slightly bitter taste. Can't remember Oro. Sometimes I like to mix Rossa with this black glass to find the perfect balance of flavors. Robusta also has more caffeine than Arabica. I've tried American roasts like El Dorado and Bustelo, but I find them too bitter, more like a cup of Starbucks than an espresso from a small Italian bar. at the same time. Never bitter. If it's too mild, mix with Lavazza Rossa or Crema e Gusto for an extra boost. I don't understand why in the US an Italian roast is called the darkest roast when in Italy most coffees are medium roast or sometimes medium dark, but still. much lighter than the dark roast of the American roast. Darker roasts also contain less caffeine than medium roasts.
