Tasteless in drinks

What can I say? You couldn't beat the price with subscription and storage, but I can't justify renewing my subscription because I just don't find this brand's coffee flavorful and appealing. My husband agrees and reminds me that the last time we bought Lavazza we noticed the same thing! Maybe it's just us. I can think of several other brands that are simply more reliable and hit the mark. Lavazza is not one of them. You pay for what you get when it comes to delicious coffee.

NOT LAVAZZA OR REALLY OLD

This is my favorite brand/style of coffee. and I usually buy it in store, but I saw it in bulk at a lower price on Amazon and decided to buy it. Remember I just finished the same store I bought before I sold this one here on the Amazon site. MUCH DIFFERENT (not in a good way) It's either NOT Lavazza at all or it's very stale. The flavor was more muted and pungent than usual and more acidic which bothered my acid reflux (it doesn't usually bother me). from this brand as it is softer than most…

Good taste and lasting coffee. I'm almost done with the first can, I'm making espresso with it using a hand pump espresso machine (Nanopresso) and the results are excellent. Rich, soft, with pleasant chocolate notes. I wasn't expecting this richness from a medium roast as I usually prefer darker roasts. It lasts well once opened, it took me 2-3 weeks to use the jar and although I keep it in a zipped bag it's not 100% sealed but still pretty fresh. WARNING: Be careful when scooping the coffee…

Strong, creamy, rich, versatile, forgiving.

This is NOT coffee. This is an AMAZING sealed jar of earth. And what I mean by forgiveness is that some coffees have a very narrow range of "good qualities." If the grind isn't perfect, if the brew isn't accurate, if the water-to-coffee ratio isn't measured in a chemistry lab, then the coffee tastes like crap with tannins. Not Espresso LavAzza. I mostly use Aeropress and I don't even measure it, just charge it up and it's always great. Also works well in a moka pot, same taste just fatter and…

degree of roasting? - Drinks

Apparently Lavazza only posts five star reviews on its website. Mine was never posted and the others were deleted. I love Lavazza coffee and have been buying it for almost 15 years. That's the first disappointment I remember. Although the beans may have originally been of high quality, the roast labeled "Espresso" was so light that the coffee tasted even lighter than an urban roast. I've tried it in both a moka and an espresso machine, and the resulting coffee was so bitter it was almost…

Something happened?

First I need to put this review in context. You can drop all notions of coffee snobbery or purism. My wife and I cannot drink strong black coffee because of the bitterness and acidity. Latte is our thing. Milk, sugar and even flavors make this drink easy on the stomach and easy on our kidneys. Lavazza Caffe Espresso is a great coffee. We were delighted to find it after trying a regular grocery store in our Bialetti Venus and were disappointed. The caffe espresso (was) quite strong and smooth…

Pros

  • Something different

Very elegant. I believe this is for the export market only, unlike other Lavazza coffees available and common in Italy (Rossa, Oro, Crema e Gusto). This is a medium roast coffee like most Italian espresso blends. I use it in my coffee maker and Nespresso Inissia machine with Mister Barista reusable steel capsules. With Nespresso I get foam and a great cup. Lavazza Qualità Rossa contains 30% Robusta and therefore has a stronger, slightly bitter taste. Can't remember Oro. Sometimes I like to mix…
