Apparently Lavazza only posts five star reviews on its website. Mine was never posted and the others were deleted. I love Lavazza coffee and have been buying it for almost 15 years. That's the first disappointment I remember. Although the beans may have originally been of high quality, the roast labeled "Espresso" was so light that the coffee tasted even lighter than an urban roast. I've tried it in both a moka and an espresso machine, and the resulting coffee was so bitter it was almost impossible to drink. I was able to use it by blending it with darker roast coffees, but the bitterness still lingers. damn beans. However, that party wasn't even close. I think it must have been a factory QA/QC error but I'll go back to Lavazza Gold or something and not risk it always being the case.
