First I need to put this review in context. You can drop all notions of coffee snobbery or purism. My wife and I cannot drink strong black coffee because of the bitterness and acidity. Latte is our thing. Milk, sugar and even flavors make this drink easy on the stomach and easy on our kidneys. Lavazza Caffe Espresso is a great coffee. We were delighted to find it after trying a regular grocery store in our Bialetti Venus and were disappointed. The caffe espresso (was) quite strong and smooth and we both liked it until we got our last order. The label has changed, and it appears to contain less clout. It's hard to find a strong coffee flavor under all that milk froth. It could be the difference between one bean crop and another - I just don't know, but we both noticed. In an attempt to regain strength and flavor we bought a bag of Gevalia French Roast and mixed a scoop with three Lavazzas and are very happy with the result. Both brands are 100% Arabica beans, but the colour, roast and grind are very different. I still like Lavazza but would love to try their other coffees one day.
