As well as being a hiker I'm also a trail runner so I was concerned how much they would affect my gait. Having tested them on snow, mud and tarmac so far, I can tell you that dry tarmac isn't a great experience, as you'd expect. Oh well. But even on the steepest trails and steeper off-piste slopes, on snow or ice, I now have complete confidence in the traction and, yes, I can still ride it without too much impact. Yes, you can feel them, but they don't bother you while running after you've taken a few steps to get used to them. As for the dirt: They helped a lot with traction, but the super-thick, sloppy dirt was still a little tricky. I'm not sure if anything would work better. They also appear to be much more durable than their better known trail crampon competitors. Another brand's spikes bent during my second trip!
