I purchased this item to protect my bathroom countertop from heat styling tools and to control cords. I have two curling irons that I plug back in once I'm done with them, and I also twist the plug at the end of the two cords over the edge so only a small portion of each hangs down the front of my dressing table. . I know I won't damage the vanity or countertop as long as these tools are cool. It's been a great product for me and the brushed nickel finish complements the hardware in my bathroom.
