Review on Enhance Your Scanner Reception with Tram 1199 Glass Mount All-Band Scanner Antenna in Silver by James Pfettscher

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works very well, just follow the installation instructions (see below):

Output will accept any interior car antenna. In addition to placing the antenna outside and above where it can pick up more RF energy, moving the antenna away from your car removes all of the computer noise that modern dashboards and other car electronics make. Just make sure you follow the installation instructions completely: 1 - Hold approximately 1 1/2 inches from the edge of the glass. 2 - Do not place above defrosting elements. 3 - Does not work with tinted materials or metal in glass. 4 - Do not block the driver's view. with antenna.5 - The plug of the junction box must point upwards or downwards.6 - The base of the antenna must point vertically upwards. #5 deserves special mention. The instructions state that the connector on the junction box should face up or down, so don't be tempted to point the connector out of the way. Side mounting of the junction box with the antenna facing up should not provide sufficient capacitive coupling through the glass. I've had several antennas like this TRAM on various vehicles over the years and they all work well with broadband scanners. . I've never had a single crack, rollover or other problem. You avoid drilling a hole for the antenna and running the coaxial cable through the ceiling, as well as the inevitable scratches that come with using a magnetic mount.
