Review on ๐Ÿ“ธ Pentax K-3 SLR Camera Review: Unboxing the Body Only Version by Jodi Tisdale

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Another home run, not a grand slam for Pentax.

If you have any questions, I'm happy to answer them. There are literally hundreds of other user reviews on this item so I won't duplicate it. It's simple: Pentax cameras are made by photographers, FOR photographers. The button layout, the tactile feel of this well-built device, the weatherproof magnesium alloy body, and most importantly, Pentax's consistently excellent image quality. That's a beast. And at the prices they are selling it's just a WHITE HOT bargain. Just order, make sure you have the latest firmware, 2 SD cards ready to go, some battery life, and you're all set to take amazing photos. NO CHAMBER COMPANY offers you so much for your money. The only caveat I would like to offer is that this is not an entry-level camera; this is on the opposite side of the semi-professional/professional level of the spectrum. She received the TIPA 2014 Expert level DSLR Award and the EISA 2015 Advanced DSLR Award. If you're new to a DSLR I'd recommend the Pentax K-50 (also sold at a ridiculously low price) or the KS-2, these two models are a bit easier to use but still pretty advanced. You can always go for the KS-1, which I think is now the entry-level Pentax camera system. Either way, if photography is your thing, you can't go wrong with Pentax. Loved them from day one, the entry level Kx system, then K-30 and now the big leagues with K-3. Do not hesitate and buy, buy, buy. UPDATE 08/18/2015: SO, tornado sirens wail, flashes everywhere, take cover? NO! Make photos. So I run in to get out of here and put my new baby in the washing machine. Then I run outside and I look down and my baby has fallen 4.5 feet to the ground. I won't bore you with the details of broken filters and possibly damaged threads, but I'll tell you this camera is a TANK. He hit the ground from a distance and not a single scratch was left on him. THANKS to Ricoh/Pentax for making this magnesium alloy. The camera and lens are fine except for possible damage to the threads. I don't have to worry about replacing a $350-$400 lens and a $600+ camera. XOXOXO Ricoh/Pentax, you have a customer FOREVER!

Pros
  • 27-point AF system with 25 cross-type and 3 low-light AF sensors
Cons
  • Good, but not great

Buy this instead of the Nikon D7100!
