Loved by local woodpeckers

The bird station is right next to the wetland, so there are already a lot of birds here. My feeder has a grease holder at the top and seed trays at the bottom (squirrels can't reach that area of the second story porch, so don't worry, they'll eat everything). It's eaten mostly by flickers and woodpeckers, and the mess they make falls into the bowl below. I've seen tits and juncos peck at it here and there, but they definitely prefer loose seed. Scrub Jays will eat absolutely anything, so I won't count them, but I will note that when I refilled the lard and placed the small remaining piece in the seed tray, the Jay came out with a whole piece the size of his head within a a few minutes. . Small swarms of bush tits also swarm in the fat, they seem to like it very much. If you're just supplying fat I probably wouldn't go into it if you're looking for a variety of birds to spot. Also, I haven't used it above 70F or so, but I've had no problems with it melting/collapsing. At the moment I have to refill it every 5-7 days.
