Not as good as expected

So I personally saw this at a local bike shop and thought the concept was pretty good. The demo model seemed decent and could have been good for a store. Unfortunately due to Covid 19 they are closed and not open yet so I bought this from Revain. It arrived fairly quickly given recent developments and well packaged. But that's not what we're here for: Installation: Installation is very easy! We installed it on the stem as in the photo and figured it would be the safest. All hardware was included but I used my own allen wrench to remove the recoil pad. At first glance it looked like this place was very solid and wouldn't move when cycling which we do every day. Actual Use: Well my wife has an iPhone XS which is pretty light. The phone fits very well in the holder and even with the RhinoShield protective case. The strap is a bungee cord so it should hold up over time. You have the option to tilt the mount at different angles. My wife tilted the mount slightly to get a better view of the screen. Shortly after she started riding, the mount fell off. As seen in the picture there is a 'lock' to prevent the mount from sliding up/down, but it's just as useless as a front door without a handle. "Lock" doesn't fix anything. The product video shows the actor using the lock and it works like a lock but not in real life. As for the slope of the mountain. There are teeth that allow you to get any angle you want, which is great in theory. During the ride we found that it didn't hold up well and yes we made sure the bolt was tight and it kept falling off during our ride. Now it's also a bit of a hassle to get the desired angle. You need to make sure the bracket slides up to access the screw. Then fix the desired angle with a Phillips screwdriver. I can see where this can be a problem for the casual rider who doesn't have tools on hand. We have a bag under the saddle with a small tool kit for anything that might happen, so we're covered. But when you think of casual riders, mom/dad who only rides with their kid, they probably don't have this on hand and just need to ride with extended bindings. Overall: The concept is good, but the execution not so much. We will continue to use this product but we are considering Quad Lock to replace this product and we will be moving it to my mountain bike. Would I recommend this to everyone? Not now. If we modernized the mechanism for setting and holding the position of the desired angle and modernized the "lock", then yes. Until these things are fixed my rating is 1 star. If they come out with an update I might raise my rating. Pros: * Can be mounted on a handlebar or stem * Comes with the necessary hardware to mount anywhere Cons: * The lock doesn't actually lock * Doesn't stay in place while riding * Setting the angle you want isn't that easy how it could be
