Review on πŸ–₯️ Dell 34" Curved Monitor with 3440X1440 Resolution, Anti-Glare Screen, Tilt Adjustment, and Flicker-Free Technology by Antonio Riley

Care must be taken to avoid FreeSync flickering.

While this monitor is FreeSync Premium Pro certified, if you set it up with the included Dell monitor cables and drivers, you'll notice intense flickering every time the refresh rate is adjusted while gaming. After some research I found a solution, which is: 1. Obtain an updated VESA certified DisplayPort 1.4 cable. It seems that not all DisplayPort 1.4 cables are created equal, and since 1440p at 144Hz is close to the cable's maximum bandwidth, any variation in quality can result in poor performance and flickering.2. Don't install the Dell-supplied monitor drivers, they mess things up for some reason. Instead, just install the AMD graphics drivers and Radeon Control Center. Also, use the Windows Generic PnP monitor driver, which is enabled by default. I think that disables HDR, but that's a small price to pay in my opinion. Of course, being a VA display, it's still prone to flickering in game menus, loading screens, and when the frame rate is very low (like 60-70 fps). I also notice flickering in every game that caps the framerate to 60 fps and doesn't let you change it (like Sim City). But the vast majority of the gameplay is flawless (Call of Duty Coldwar, for example, where the frame rate is constantly adjusted between 115-135 fps). And if you come across a game that flickers a lot (which is unlikely for first-person shooters and other games optimized for high-end graphics cards), you can easily disable FreeSync from the Radeon Control Center with a click a button. Finally, I would like to add that I use the RX 6900 XT.

Pros
  • Anti-glare screen
Cons
  • Unattractive design
