I didn't want a metal filing cabinet because they stick out like a thumbnail and completely spoil the aesthetic of any room, but I also didn't want to spend an inordinate amount of money on what is essentially a glorified side table. That helped. It's cheap stuff and probably won't last a decade, but who doesn't do the repair anyway. It's easy to assemble, although the bottom drawer gets a little stuck when you close it. Holds lots of files and has no trouble keeping documents for 8 years. Doesn't tip over when the top drawer is fully extended and the bottom drawer doesn't tip over, which I've seen on many filing cabinets. In general I am satisfied with the purchase.
