I'm returning this vacuum cleaner because I don't think it will last very long. After 15 minutes of use on the heavily trafficked carpet on the front and back doors and the laminate throughout the rest of the house, some problems started and I turned the machine off. The first problem was that the motor started to squeak, which indicated either a bad bearing or bushing. I removed the metal drive belt cover to see if anything was stuck and there was nothing. But I noticed that the metal lock on the right was moving away from the edge on the lid. When it returned to the locked position there was no touch tension holding it in place. I also noticed that the rubber seal under the belt cover at the narrow end had come loose. I suspect this gasket will prevent suction leaks if properly installed. I also noticed that the two different pieces of plastic that the gasket presses on were uneven and one corner higher than the other, which could also affect the even compression of the gasket. Crate. I found out that the box itself was originally used for a different Bissell model and one of the labels on it read: Shipped from: Edmar Corporation1580 Holladay Rd, Cookeville, TN 38506. One of the tenants at this address is Edmar Floor Care and they repair broken vacuum cleaners. Thank you Revain for a hassle free return policy, but someone needs to know if this unit was brand new or refurbished.
