After 17 years of bi-monthly use my original Showtime Platinum is obsolete and I bought this to replace it. If it's almost identical to the previous version, but if it's not broken, don't fix it! I love this spit. I've cooked hundreds of chicken, venison, a small roast pork (with BBQ sauce), roast beef, and turkey with just a skewer. The basket is great for fish, and if you have skewers, they're great for sausages and hot dogs. The quality and durability is outstanding - 17 years is the longest I've had with a worktop fixture. Cleaning is a breeze. - Even if the non-stick coating wears off over time, the dishwasher will do most of the work, quickly cleaning the drip tray and spitting out the chopsticks for whatever you need. Keep an eye on the chicken's balance with the new perches - mine ended up slipping to one side. If the non-stick coating wears off after a few years, that's not a problem (-: [NOTE: After a few years, I stopped removing and cleaning the heat shield and guides behind the element and just left them in place - after Hasn't caused any problems for 13 years. Your mileage may vary.] For the best, lightest chicken, simply sprinkle the skin with Cavender Greek Seasoning and let it cook for an hour and a half (6-7 lb. chicken) will outperform any store-bought rotisserie chicken.
