Review on Giottos AA1900 Rocket Air Blaster Large - Black: Powerful Dust Remover for Delicate Equipment by Colton Scheehl

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works great, but there is a star deduction for the weird scent of the perfume.

Advantages: 1) Powerful! I bought it for slides and negatives for the purchased scanner. I had to return the scanner and get a new one, but I will not be returning this one. It goes with almost anything and if something is stubborn I use a microfiber cloth. I even blow on my dog and he makes funny faces about the #1 scam downstairs. 2) Seems to be well made with quality materials 3) If it wasn't clear elsewhere, this unit is primed by a one-way valve at the rear, meaning it doesn't prime at anything from the front. 4) Just the right speed. It's not too much, so it won't blow the keys off the keyboard or send my family photos to the next room like my air compressor would. 5) Unlike air from a can, there is no risk of a jet of fuel escaping. It's also free to use, unlike canned air that you have to constantly replace. My air compressor works fine, but moisture and bits of rust or dust may come out. I don't want it on my negatives or on my scanner. Cons: 1) I don't know why this thing smells like perfume inside and out, but I feel like I'm using it in a nightclub. Were they trying to cover up the rubber smell or were they trying to get me in trouble with my wife? Every time I use it she looks at me funny. Why do I smell like fancy perfume? 2) It is easy to tip over. They attach the legs to the back to make it look like a rocket, but it's very heavy and easy to fall and then bounce off the ground and become a chew toy. It would be better if he had legs on the side or something else to keep him from rolling. 3) I use this A LOT on the negatives for my second scanner (had to send the first one back). I have about 5000 negatives to scan and each one gets a few pulls front and back and then the scanner does a few bumps. My hands hurt every day. Better than the alternatives though.

Pros
  • cleaning equipment
Cons
  • communication with the seller
