I have been trying other "Custom Fit" kits for my 2010 Chevy S10 that I have yet to make brackets for. I was glad it installed solidly with no extras. My particular vehicle has a standard plastic mounting post in the dash that supports the back of a low profile factory stereo. All aftermarket flush mount kits require this plastic spacer to be cut off to allow longer aftermarket stereos to be installed. Another kit I tried had a bulge on the front that got around the requirement to cut the post, but it looked odd. This kit recesses the front of the aftermarket stereo into the rectangular hole seen in the product image. It doesn't look quite as streamlined as a factory stereo, but better than a 2-inch dash-mounted stereo stick in my opinion.
