I bought these for my girlfriend's house as I already had regular Vacu-Vin plugs at home. Functionally they are just as good as the corks I use at home, pulling the vacuum out of the bottle and holding the wine, but they definitely feel more brittle, have more "pieces" that can break or even break. . The vacuum pump mechanism isn't that easy to use as you have to make sure everything releases the check valve lifter and the pump doesn't "click" when you've reached maximum vacuum. Granted the built in spout works pretty well in the sense that I don't drip _nothing_ when I pour from the valve and I think it would be nice to leave the cork in the bottle to pour, but in the end I love you have to remove the plug from the original Vacu-Vin system as you know that when the plug is outside it is unsealed whereas with this system you can see the plug/spill port installed and think it is sealed , although in fact it isn't, and your wine is bad in the morning. 4 stars for how it works and seems to work as intended, but for my money I'd rather get the original Vacu-Vin system: https://www.amazon.com/Original-Vacu-Vin-Vacuum-Plugs/ dp /B000GA3KCE/ref=psdc_678499011_t1_B076JV29M5
