I would remove the velcro
I have heard from other people who have it that it stains the interior carpet. So I removed the glue with a utility knife. I had it for about six months or so. I take it out every few weeks when my car is in and so far I haven't had any issues with my interior. Because it's so low, I keep scratching my feet on the window sill. I'm so glad I got this. If you're not very coordinated and need to step on a windowsill I would reconsider taking the velcro off as the plastic can be slippery.
