Update April 2021 --- Installation problems

Update. I bought another one of these adapters and this time installed it (using a CD) without having to enter a code like I said in my original comment. Maybe people are actually reading these comments?------------------------------ - Original commentFirst - I have the BELKIN USB device used for 10 years now. This block is very easy to install. Insert a drive, connect when prompted, and you're done. I have a second computer so I bought this one. This new version is really bad. Unlike the old one, this one asks you to enter an 8-digit pin code "on the label" to activate the device. But there is no 8-digit PIN code anywhere else on the label on the box. Finally I entered the 4 digit barcode number and it worked. There is no 8-digit PIN code. Then the device could not find a WiFi connection. All he wanted to do was get a broadband connection. Setting up a new connection via Windows also didn't work because the device didn't show any WLAN options. At this point I started changing something in Windows to set up a new connection and to be honest I don't remember exactly what I did. But after playing around with it for half an hour and restarting my computer a few times, I was finally able to log into my WIFI server. And of course, there's no tech support number or contact anywhere in the material, so you're on your own. I gave it 5 stars for WIFI because it actually shows a stronger WIFI signal than the old Belkin and both computers are side by side. I gave it 3 stars overall because it took me so much time and effort to get it working. The old BELKIN was much easier to use. This experience once again confirms my longstanding theory when it comes to software and devices - every time there's an update to something that works, it only gets worse.

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
