I am a professional photographer and have recently used a Nikon 200-500 zoom lens and needed to upgrade my tripod head to something more precise when positioning at full speed. Magnification without noticeable camera shake that would be noticeable with film. This Manfrotto 410 Junior transmission paired with a 120-30 pillar spacer is just what I needed! Very easy to install (requires a thin flathead screwdriver to seal) a dream to work with with no noticeable wobble, shake or head vibration when adjusting or positioning. Designed for semi-static objects, not for quick selection of moving objects. I plan to use this for objects in fixed locations like woodpeckers building houses, nesting birds and of course wasps and hornets building their nests. The stock heads were too inconsistent as I had to constantly compensate and lose position when tightening or loosening the incline adjustment. This gear head takes the guesswork out and I can make micro adjustments with ease. I also shoot macro/micro video and photos, so the ability to be inches from the subject and the incremental pan control makes my life so easy and I wonder how I ever did without it. , and nothing that would give me away if wildlife were nervous. The construction is excellent, heavy, nicely finished with handles that feel nice and provide a good grip for your fingers. Scalloped adjustment flanges are accessible and conveniently located for quick adjustments. YOU NEED A COLUMN SPACER - Adding a 120-38 Manfrotto spacer eliminates any pinch points between the lower controls and the tripod. This allows me to use the horizontal mast setup that the Manfrotto 055 features. Great price great quality I would definitely recommend the 410 Junior Geared Head without hesitation. One last note - it will work great for the upcoming Supermoon as well. Photo shooting.
