Great lens. I literally drove myself crazy after reading all the reviews. The bottom line is that all zooms will be a bit soft in wide-open corners. All wide-angle lenses have some vignetting. There is always a chance of getting a bad copy from any brand. I tested Nikkor 24-70, Sigma and Tamron. Since I'm writing a review, yes you guessed it, I picked the Tamron. I'm very happy with the speed and accuracy of the autofocus and vibration control. I shoot comfortably at f/2/0.8 at 1/10' or 1/8" handheld. I also have a Tamron 70-200 and the same. I also have Nikon glass, mostly primes but almost all my past Zooms suffered a little in the corners as well as some vignetting, focus breathing and flare. This 24-70 G2 has very minimal flare due to the lens coating used. I also didn't notice any focus breathing or chromatic aberration, which could not be corrected in post-processing. Lens Lock is also a great feature awkward for my large hands but I haven't lost a single frame because of it.If that's what you're struggling with then there's no such thing as a perfect lens anywhere. But the cost of the Tamron 24-70 is it really worth it in my opinion.
