1/4" x 20? Bought these for an outside project. Drilled first hole. Inserted first screw. At each end and started tightening.". eh? I started unscrewing the nut. Do not go. eh? The lock nut CLOSES SECURELY after 3 turns of the key! Had to be sawed off with a hacksaw due to location (after I went and got that). Tried a different bolt and locknut. The same thing! eh? I got another 1/4 x 20 bolt. The lock nut worked fine. Something else in these screws. Took my old trust stamp 1/4 x 20. Bolt locked in vise. The punch will pass a little normally and then start cutting. eh? Shouldn't 1/4 x 20 be the standard? Checked a few more 1/4 x 20 screws. Punches cut some on EACH. Luckily I only needed six. But at least the lock nuts are working properly now. The half-hour project took 2 hours. If you want extra work and sharpening, buy these truly SPECIAL screws.
